Fishbowl Incentive
Try this simple exercise requiring a modest expense and view the power of incentives relative to performance. To start, select only one program that is easily tractable such as over draft lines of credit, credit cards, certificate of deposit, money market accounts, etc. Next place a transparent fishbowl (plastic or glass) filled with fifty crumpled one dollar ($1) bills near each teller area. There should be a separate fishbowl for every teller on duty. Once you’ve selected the program you would like to promote then create flyers (sample shown below) that you can display in your lobby. Each flyer should explain that they (the member) may ask for a dollar from the fishbowl if the teller that is about to service them fails to mention the promotional product. Let the promotion run for one or two weeks. At the end of the promotional period the tellers may keep the remaining bills in the fishbowl.
